Youth Zones work best when they collaborate with local charities, voluntary groups, and statutory services, and that’s exactly what we aim to do at Base71.
Base71 is a shared space for other organisations to deliver their own programmes, activities, and support services to reach even more young people.
Across the OnSide network, we’ve seen how local partners can expand their reach and connect with young people who might not otherwise engage with their services — all thanks to the Youth Zone’s open-door membership model.

We want Base71 to be a hub for young people from across Barnsley and the surrounding areas, maximising the opportunities available to them. That’s why we’re always open to new partnership opportunities, and we’re keen to work alongside local organisations to develop collaborative programmes that truly meet the needs of Barnsley’s young people.
Youth Zones across the country have a strong track record of working with partners to deliver high-quality projects – from health and wellbeing initiatives to enterprise challenges and creative workshops. At Base71, we want to build on that success, creating a Youth Zone where partnership working is at the heart of everything we do.
