Children from Burton Road Primary School and St Mary’s C of E Primary School enjoyed a “veg-tastic” start to their day this week as Mr. Bloom, CBeebies’ best-loved gardener, took over Base71 for a high-energy “Morning Makeover” event.
In collaboration with Cool Milk, the event was designed to champion children’s health and wellbeing through interactive education and physical activity. Mr. Bloom brought his signature charm to the stage with an animated performance, teaching students the building blocks of a perfect morning: a nutritious breakfast, active play, and the importance of oral hygiene.
The morning kicked off with a refreshing bottle of “Cool Milk” for every student, highlighting the vital role of calcium in building strong foundations, before the children headed into the Base71 sports hall. There, they took part in a series of coached activities designed to promote bone health and general physical fitness.
Base71 would like to thank Cool Milk, Boots & Barnsley Council’s Public Health team for their donations for the goody bags which the children took home with them.
Speaking about the collaboration, Mike Ferrand, CEO at Cool Milk, said:
“This has been a superb event and reenforces the need for children and parents to understand the benefits of milk and good nutrition as key enablers to physical development, educational achievement and a healthy lifestyle. Base 71 continues to do great work in supporting children and young adults on this journey and we are proud to be working with them to ensure the adults of the future are well place to flourish and be successful in what ever they do.”
Mandy Carlson, CEO at Base71, added:
“What an incredible morning! It was a joy to see the children so engaged with the importance of oral hygiene, nutrition, and staying active. We are hugely grateful to Mr. Bloom and the Cool Milk team for choosing Base71 to host this event. We truly hope the young people carry these healthy habits with them for years to come.”
