Thanks to a generous donation from Barnsley Council, all young people aged 8-18 who live in Barnsley postcodes will be able to get free membership for the first year our Youth Zone is open.
Membership sign-ups will open later this year, ahead of our grand opening in early 2026.
Cabinet members voted to approve the investment, which is for up to £150,000, earlier this week, as part of their Great Childhoods Ambition programme. As we are an independent local charity, this funding is a huge boost to our ability to make Base71 accessible for young people in Barnsley.
Base71 will be Yorkshire’s first OnSide Youth Zone. Youth Zones are incredible spaces for young people, offering over 20 different activities, new opportunities and experiences, and skilled youth workers.
